Met-Ed Energy Choice

Customers in the Met-Ed service area receive both the delivery and supply of their electricity from the utility. Energy Choice, or PA Electric Choice gives you the ability to control the supply portion of your electricity by choosing a retail electricity provider and plan that works best for you. By participating in Energy Choice, Met-Ed customers can realize huge potential savings over the default rate that Met-Ed charges for electricity.

The Pennsylvania Public Utilities Commission (PUC) operates PA Power Switch, the official energy shopping website for the state. Here you’ll find hundreds of offers from a large number of electricity providers with varying degrees of reliability and customer service levels.

ElectricityRates.com eliminates the confusion of shopping for electricity rates by bringing you only great rates from leading providers. In the Marketplace, you can compare rates in under a minute and switch providers in about five minutes total so you can spend your energy on other things.

Reading Your Met-Ed Electricity Bill

There are typically two different types of charges on your Met-Ed electricity bill, delivery charges and supply charges. You will also want to be ware of the Met-Ed Price to Compare when shopping for electricity rates and considering switching providers.

Met-Ed Delivery Charges

These charges go to Met-Ed and are there to ensure the reliable delivery of your electricity. These charges stay the same no matter who your electricity provider is. The Pennsylvania Public Utilities Commission sets these delivery charges for every utility in the state.

Electricity Supply Charges

Supply charges are what you pay for the electricity that you use. These are calculated by multiplying your monthly usage in kWh by your electricity supply rate. By default, your electricity is supplied by Met-Ed at the Price to Compare. If you participate in PA electric choice, these will reflect your chosen electricity provider and rate.

Met-Ed Price To Compare

Met-Ed’s Price to Compare is the price per kilowatt-hour (kWh) you will be charged if you receive default service. You can also use it to help you decide if you would save by switching to a retail electricity provider. The current Price to Compare can be found on your Met-Ed electricity bill.
