Metropolitan Edison (Met-Ed), a FirstEnergy company founded in 1917, serves over 560,000 customers across southeast Pennsylvania. All Met-Ed customers enjoy the ability to choose their electricity provider thanks to Pennsylvania’s Energy Choice program, sometimes referred to as PA Electric Choice.

Over 143,000 Met-Ed customers have switched to a retail energy provider according to the PA Public Utility Commission.

What is the Met-Ed Price to Compare?

The current Met-Ed price to compare is 11.01¢ per kilowatt-hour (kWh) effective December 1st, 2024.

The “price to compare” (PTC) is a benchmark rate set by your local utility company that allows you to compare their standard electricity rate with offers from other retail suppliers.

Energy Choice in Pennsylvania

Customers in the Met-Ed service area receive both the delivery and supply of their electricity from the utility. Reading Your Met-Ed Electricity Bill

There are typically two different types of charges on your Met-Ed electricity bill, delivery charges and supply charges. You will also want to be ware of the Met-Ed Price to Compare when shopping for electricity rates and considering switching providers.

Delivery Charges
