National Grid, one of the largest investor-owned energy companies in the world covering Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island, and the UK, will be raising their fixed and variable rates for residential and commercial customers starting November 1st.

For Massachusetts residents, the fixed rate for electricity will jump from 10.870 cents/kWh to 13.718 cents/kWh starting 11/1/18 and going through 4/30/19.

MA electricity rate increase

The variable rate for MA residents will see an even steeper increase from 11.636 cents/kWh today to as high as 15.995 cents/kWh in February.

Businesses in Massachusetts will also be paying higher electricity rates starting Nov 1st. The fixed rate will go from 10.182 cents/kWh to 13.166 cents/kWh.
