Understanding Your Met-Ed Electric Bill
Customer Number
Towards the upper left-hand corner of your Met-Ed bill, you will find your customer number. If you want to switch electricity suppliers, you will need your customer number to make the switch.
Bill Details Section
Along the right-hand side of your electric bill, you will find the bill details section. This is a breakdown of all the different charges that go into your electric bill.
When looking at this section, it's important to understand the difference between electric delivery and electric supply.
- Electric Delivery/Distribution – These charges go to your utility providerMet-Edand support the delivery of your electricity. These charges are the same for everyone under Met-Ed, so they will not change if you switch electricity providers.
- Electricity Supply – These charges go to your electricity supplier (aka electricity provider) to pay for the electricity that you use. By default, Met-Ed is your electricity supplier, but you have the option to choose a different electricity supplier to save on your electricity supply charges.
You can find your electricity supply rate in the bill details section. This is the number that you use when comparing electricity providers to see if you can save by switching to a lower rate.
If Met-Ed is your supplier, the electricity supply rate is called the Price to Compare; you can find this number along the left side of your bill under the Messages section. If you have a different supplier, you can find your current electricity supply rate in the Electric Generation Supplier section pictured above.
Usage History
Towards the bottom left-hand corner of your electric bill, you will find your usage history. You can use this section to see how much electricity you have used over each of the past 12 months.
This section is great to use to estimate how much you will spend on future energy bills.
