Viridian launches services in Massachusetts

Green retail energy provider Viridian Energy announced on May 31 that it will extend its services into Massachusetts in June as part of the company’s plan to expand into more states that have passed energy deregulation laws.

Viridian now operates in seven states, including Massachusetts, after first beginning in 2009. The company, which offers green energy to National Grid and NStar customers, hopes to reach out to more than 90 percent of all energy consumers in Massachusetts. Since February, Viridian has been actively establishing a presence in the state in preparation for the launch.

“The people of Massachusetts have been very welcoming to Viridian and have made it clear that they are open to more responsible Energy Choices,” said Michael Fallquist, founder and CEO of Viridian Energy. “Energy is a product that everyone uses, and we are pleased to help Massachusetts residents make the choice to switch their energy supplier and make a significant environmental impact.”

Fallquist added that the company has helped more than 200,000 energy customers reduce carbon emissions by 431 million pounds, all while giving customers a choice in the energy needs.

Since Massachusetts passed its energy deregulation laws, the retail electricity market has grown highly competitive, ensuring energy users receive the best electricity rate available.
