TXU Energy uses social media to spread summer electricity savings
TXU Energy recently launched a new Facebook page that will help customers significantly save on their electricity bills, as the website provides tips, tools and other resources that show how conserving their electricity can result in lower bills.
“Electricity consumption is higher in the summer because AC units run more as Texans struggle to keep their homes cool during the hot days and nights,” the company said in a recent release. “And because nearly half of the energy used in homes goes to cooling and heating, the summer heat has a significant impact on household budgets.”
The company hopes to use the Facebook page to promote good energy habits, as well as to receive feedback from customers on the best ways to lower their electricity bills. On the page, the company explains its Brighten-iThermostat, which can be used to automatically program thermostats to change to higher levels when residents are away or sleeping.
The company plans to add content to the site throughout the summer.
Texas has become the home over several retail electricity providers in the last decade, all of which hope to take advantage of the state’s deregulated energy market. To stay competitive, all providers offer similar incentives to attract new customers.
