BlueStar aims to help businesses lower electricity bills along with usage

Illinois alternate electricity provider BlueStar Energy announced earlier this month it has offered companies another option to bring down their electricity bills with the acquisition of California-based TruBrite Energy Management.

Aside from offering businesses lower electricity rates than standard utilities, BlueStar helps companies analyze their electricity usage to attempt to reduce consumption. TruBrite offers a variety of new energy efficiency solutions that businesses can make use of, particularly the installation of improved new technologies.

“This acquisition brings together BlueStar’s and TruBrite’s energy management expertise to meet businesses’ needs with energy efficiency projects that deliver savings and environmental benefits,” Troy Hammond, president of demand side management for BlueStar, said in a statement. “Working with the TruBrite team as our West Coast office, we can more effectively conduct facility audits and perform installations nationally.”

Business electricity rates have benefited substantially from electricity deregulation, which can be seen in the dramatically higher participation rates among businesses as compared to residential customers, but many companies can still benefit from efforts to reduce energy consumption. The acquisition of TruBrite should help BlueStar’s customers in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Ohio and Washington, D.C.
