TXU Energy uses sweepstakes to encourage energy conservation

Although the fall temperatures are showing up in some parts of the country, Texas residents are still experiencing summer-like conditions, forcing them to crank their air conditioners to stay cool in the early autumn months.

Now, customers of Texas retail energy provider TXU Energy can better understand how they're using their electricity by taking part in the company's MyEnergy Makeover sweepstakes. Customers will have the opportunity to win cash to put toward their residential electricity bills through the sweepstakes, and are automatically entered by signing up for TXU Energy MyEnergy Dashboards, a savings solution delivered through the company's website.

"When you see your electricity usage through the TXU Energy MyEnergy Dashboard, you understand how the weather and your habits at home are affecting your consumption and what that costs you," said Jennifer Pulliam, director of innovation at TXU Energy. "And, since you can access it through the devices you already use day to day, you can experience that on your terms."

The sweepstakes is one of several offers Texas electricity providers are offering to entice people to switch electricity companies. Thanks to the state's energy deregulation laws, energy rates among competitive suppliers have remained relatively the same for the past 10 years.
