Businesses in Texas may want to try to find the best energy rate with retail energy provider Think Energy, which is currently on a campaign to target small businesses and help them lower their electricity rates.
According to the Houston Business Journal, the company, which is a subsidiary of GDF Suez Energy Resources North America, was spun off last year specifically to handle the company's business electricity sales. In Texas alone, as many as 200 retail energy providers have set up shop, creating a highly competitive environment for energy suppliers.
However, according to Think's general manager Deena Morgan, Think Energy has established markets beyond Texas' borders, entering the competitive energy environments of Pennsylvania, New York, Illinois, Massachusetts and Maryland, giving the company the edge over firms that have remained firmly planted in Texas.
Texas' energy market has benefited from deregulation laws since 2002, and since, 85 percent of commercial and industrial customers have switched away from their utility in favor of a retail energy provider. Another 40 percent of residential customers have switched to benefit from finding the best electricity rates.
