While Texas itself is recognizing the 10th anniversary of electricity deregulation in the state, retail electricity provider Tara Energy is also celebrating its 10th year, offering its customers the chance to win dozens of prizes.

Owned by electricity provider Just Energy, the Houston-based Tara Energy has grown to offer electricity to more than 1.5 million Texans over the past decade.

Having started up just as Texas' electricity market was opening to competition, Tara has distinguished itself by weathering competition from dozens of other electricity suppliers, while building roots in the community through its connections to teams like the Houston Astros and local charities.

Now, Tara is offering all its customers a chance to win prizes ranging from Apple iPads and Amazon Kindles to the grand prize of $10,000. Customers can increase their chances of winning to referring friends and family to the company.

"We want to extend our celebration to the community and thank our customers for their loyalty over the past 10 years," Neville Ravji, CEO and co-founder of Tara Energy, said in a statement. "We look forward to our continued service and honoring our deep community roots for many decades to come."
