Residents in the PECOservice area that have higher-than-average electricity usage now have seasonal savings opportunities when they switch to the retail electricity provider, FirstEnergy Solutions.
Eligible customers are generally those that have higher usage due to electric heating equipment. From October until March, residents enrolling in seasonal pricing will receive 7.23 cents per kWh. From April through September, customers can lock in rates at 7.39 cents per kWh. In comparison, from October 1 to December 1, 2012, the average PECO price-to-compare for high-use residential electric heating in winter months was 8.25 cents per kWh, and 11.24 cents for summer months.
It is estimated that high-usage customers that switch from the PECO utility to FirstEnergy Solutions seasonal program will save an average of $790 through the end of the 36 month agreement.
FirstEnergy is a retail electricity provider that serves customers in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, New Jersey, New York and West Virginia. PECO is the largest electric and natural gas utility in Pennsylvania, serving 1.6 million electric customers in southeastern Pennsylvania.
