Retail energy provider North American Power, which serves customers across the Northeast who have switched electricity providers in the wake of energy deregulation laws, is enticing new customers to switch over with an unconventional incentive: Two Yankees tickets.

The company, which aims to save customers millions of dollars in energy costs while lessening their environmental impact, says it will give new customers a pair of New York Yankees tickets for select games starting June 20. Anyone who is currently a customer of a number of utilities operating in the area is eligible for the incentive. Thanks to deregulation, these customers can choose their provider without being locked into long-term contracts that are susceptible to fluctuating energy prices.

Switching is easy, and as soon as it is done, the company said, the exact date of the game wished to be seen can be selected. North American Power will then send the tickets. The program will begin on June 12, and run as long as supplies last.

All over the country, energy providers in deregulated states are developing creative ways to attract new customers, who now have the freedom to switch electricity providers and shop around for lower electricity rates.
