With electricity deregulation now well into its second decade across in the U.S., the country is beginning to see a growing number of electricity providers that can be seen as fixtures of the industry.

Ft. Lauderdale, Florida-based electricity supplier Liberty Power announced late last month that the company is now celebrating its 10th anniversary as a company.

"Few, if any, retail electric providers can claim they've remained in business and independent for 10 years," Alberto Daire, co-founder, president and chief operating officer, said in a statement. "It's been an amazing journey, watching the company grow in so many ways."

After 10 years in the industry, Liberty Power now serves more than 100,000 commercial customers ranging across 13 states from New Jersey to Maryland to Texas.

To celebrate the milestone, the company decided to hold a sweepstakes, offering 10 customers the opportunity to win $10,000 each. Drawn at random from all their accounts, the winners included a microcosm of the small and large businesses Liberty Power serves, from a chicken farmer in Maryland to a fire house in Pennsylvania.
