According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, Massachusetts has the third-highest retail electricity rates in the US. Of course, if you are a Massachusetts resident, this is no surprise to you.

Luckily, we have some good news for distraught electricity customers.

In Electricity Rates's most recent energy savings report, we found that Massachusetts customers can save BIG by switching electricity suppliers.

How Much Can You Save On Your Massachusetts Electricity Supply?

In our report, we found that some Massachusetts residents can save 26% on their electricity supply, just by switching electricity suppliers.

Massachusetts-Savings Information January 2020

Massachusetts Electric’s (a National Grid company) Price to Compare is 13.96 per kWh at the time of this writing. However, with Constellation's 36-month electricity plan, that rate can be brought down to 10.39 per kWh!

To put this in perspective, if you use the average household's 914 kWh a month in electricity, the cost of your electricity supply could drop from $127.59 a month to $94.96 a month, just by switching energy suppliers.

It is important to note that these savings are for your electricity supply (sometimes called electricity "generation" on your bill). Other fees for electricity delivery will still be determined by your utility provider.

Massachusetts Electric (and many other utility providers) uses a variable-rate, meaning rates will increase and decrease over time based on market conditions. The savings above are based on the most recent rates.

The Constellation plan uses a fixed-rate. This means the rates are locked in at the advertised 10.39 per kWh for the full 36-month plan, protecting you from surprise rate increases. What you see is what you get.

How Can You Switch Electricity Suppliers?

You can switch your electricity supplier right here at Electricity Rates! All you have to do is type in your ZIP Code, select your plan, and start saving!

There are no interruptions in your service, and after you switch, your new plan will take over in one to two billing cycles. That's it. It's really that simple.

Even if you don't have Massachusetts Electric (National Grid), you can still save. In fact, depending on your current supplier, you may even save more.

There is no harm in looking, so check your most recent electricity bill for your rate, type in your ZIP Code, and see how much you can save.
