Potentia Energy, a family owned retail energy provider based in Houston, Texas, was recently named the fastest-growing company of 2012 in the Houston area in the Houston Business Journal's Fast 100.

Companies were ranked according to their growth in the last two years, and considering Potentia reported a 19,918 percent increase in size in the studied period, it easily made its way to the top of the list. The company was also the only retail energy provider to be ranked.

"We are honored to be named the fastest growing company in Houston this year," said Anis Charania, CEO of Potentia Energy. "We would like to thank our customers who have graciously referred their friends and family to Potentia, our employees who exemplify teamwork and dedication, and our business associates who have provided a solid support system for our growing organization."

Potentia is one of more than 30 retail energy providers that have set up shop in Texas since the state implemented its energy deregulation laws in 2002. These independent electric suppliers have created a thriving competitive energy market that has kept rates from rising for 10 years straight.
