Having proven how well the idea can work, Dallas-based electricity provider TXU Energy has announced plans to expand its Cash Back Loyalty Rewards program starting this year.

Previously the fixed electricity rate plan would give residential customers 3 percent cash back for every 12 months they pay their electricity bills on time.

While this program has proven popular and successful, TXU wanted to improve returns for customers who continued to prove their reliability. As of this year, residential customers will earn 4 percent cash back for the second consecutive year that they pay their bills on time.

Perhaps even more importantly, the electricity provider has expanded the program to business customers as well. These customers will have the possibility to save even more, with rewards growing from 3 percent to 4 percent to 5 percent over the course of three years. Even smaller businesses that are not normally applicable for business electricity contracts can receive the same benefits as residential customers.

At the same time, TXU is also rolling out another somewhat more fun reward. The TXU Energy Cash Rewards Sweepstakes will offer the chance to win $10,000 to any new customers, anyone who "likes" the reward on the company's Facebook page and people who mail in an application.
