Texas retail energy provider Champion Energy Services recently ranked highest in customer satisfaction out of all the state's dozens of independent electric suppliers, according to the J.D. Power and Associates 2012 Texas Residential Retail Electric Provider Customer Satisfaction Study.

The award marks the third consecutive time the power company has been acknowledged for its superior customer service. In the course of the study's five-year history, Champion is the only Texas retail energy provider to win it three times.

"The J.D. Power and Associates ranking is a coveted honor, and it reflects the value of Champion Energy's customer-focused business model," said Scott Fordham, president and chief executive officer of Champion Energy. "Our around-the-clock customer care is structured to address the wide spectrum of needs of the company's valued customers."

The presence of retail energy providers in Texas has surged since energy deregulation laws were implemented in 2002. According to the Public Utility Commission of Texas, about 58 percent of the 5.7 million people living in deregulated areas have switched energy providers to receive electricity from non-utility affiliated companies as of March 31, 2012.
