PPL Customers, be on the lookout for another phone scam. Recently, callers have been reaching out to businesses claiming that they are PPL Electric Utilities and telling these businesses that their electricity will be shut off. The callers have been aggresive and rude while telling customers that they are behind on their electric bill and to expect their power to be shut off.
With this still ongoing, here are some steps to avoid being scammed:
- If the caller contacts you, ask to verify the past due balance, name and address associated with the account in question to prove that they are a PPL representative
- If you are in doubt of whether this caller is really a PPL representative do not give out any personal or financial information
- If the caller is in question, hang up and call PPL direclty to verify your account status
