What Our Customers Say
New York Community Solar Frequently Asked Questions
-
Community Solar a state-legislated program (New York State Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA)) designed to reach New York’s clean energy goals. It is free to sign-up because you aren’t buying equipment; you are simply “subscribing” to a share of a local solar farm’s power. The state requires utilities like Con Edison and National Grid to give you credit for that power.
-
No. Because New York uses Consolidated Billing, you never pay us or the solar provider directly. Your solar credits are applied as a deduction on your existing utility bill, and you simply pay your utility the new, lower amount.
-
Yes! Community solar is designed specifically to be inclusive. As long as you have your own BGE, Pepco, or Delmarva account, you can participate. It doesn’t matter if you live in an apartment, a townhouse, or a rented house.
-
If you move to another home within the same utility service area (e.g., moving from one BGE house to another), your subscription moves with you. If you move out of the area, you can cancel at any time with no penalty.
-
No. You can cancel your subscription at any time. There are no enrollment fees, no cancellation fees, and no hidden costs. Our goal is to make clean energy the easiest choice you make all year.
