Another Texas-based retail energy provider is making headlines after being named one of the largest retail energy providers in the state, which comes as a major win for the company as it looks to spread its customer base into new areas, the company said in a recent release.

According to a statement, Mega Energy, which is based in Houston, was recently named in the Dallas Business Journal's list, the "Largest North Texas Retail Electricity Providers." The special recognition was found in the November, 2012 issue of the Dallas Business Journal.

A spokesperson for the company said that Mega Energy was thrilled to be given such a high honor, and that it will continue the work it has done to become a major player in Texas' competitive energy market.

"This is quite an honor for us. The fact that Dallas Business Journal included Mega Energy in its selection of "Largest North Texas Retail Electricity Providers," signals that our constant efforts towards business excellence are paying off. We are proud to be included in this recognition," the spokesperson said.

"At Mega Energy, we believe in providing our Texas energy customers with world class customer service as well as savings," the company said in a release following the publication of the list. "The electricity delivered to your door is the same so why pay more? We offer a variety of products and billing options. Our number one priority is managing your residential and or commercial electricity needs. All you need to do is tell us how we can help you today."

In addition to making it onto the publication's list for the largest retail energy providers, American Registry also included Mega Energy on its list of "Registry Business Excellence." The company was awarded a plaque that was custom designed to show the company's accomplishments.

With Texas' retail energy sector going strong for 10 years now, a number of providers are upping their size and commitment to customer service in an attempt to gain such recognition. By attracting the spotlight, these providers will likely spread their goal and message of offering affordable energy all over the state.

As more providers enter Texas, the market has become increasingly competitive, which has driven down the cost of distributing electricity, much to the satisfaction of customers.
