How to Find the Best Provider for Your Electricity Needs

At ElectricityRates.com, we work hard to provide the most relevant and up-to-date information to help customers select the best electricity plan for their home or business. We do not endorse any of the providers on our website, so you can be sure that the information you find is non-biased. We want to help find the best provider for you.

At the top of this page, you will find an easy and FREE tool that does the hard work for you. Simply type your zip code in the box, select Med-Ed as your utility, and you’ll be presented with a list of retail electricity providers that you can choose from.

When looking through the available plans for each provider, have your most recent utility bill on hand so you know that you’re comparing the correct rate options. What you are currently paying for your electric supply can be found on the second page of your Met-Ed bill, in the Charges From Electric Generation Supplier section. In this example, the supply rate (also referred to as generation) is highlighted in yellow.

How to Make the Switch

Switching electricity providers is easy.  You can switch from the comfort of your own home— online or over the phone. Simply type you zip code in our compare tool and view the variety of options in your area. The provider you select will need to know your account information, so be sure to have your most recent utility bill on hand. Met-Ed will immediately be contacted by your new provider. You will begin to see your new provider on your Med-Ed bill after one to two billing cycles.

If you’re having trouble locating your Met-Ed Customer Number, it can be found on the first page of your bill:

There’s no need to contact Met-Ed – Your new provider will complete the switching process for you. You can expect your new rates to show up on your utility bill in one to two cycles.
