As competition between retail electricity providers has heated up in recent years, these electricity companies have found ways to give back to the community to put themselves above their competitors. Now Houston, Texas-based Champion Energy Services has announced a new program that will support the people who do some of the hardest work in the state.

Champion announced late last month that it has made an arrangement with Healthcare Coalition of Texas to offer all of its members lower electricity rates. Based out of Plano, Texas, HCT is a group representing 14 different hospitals across the state, and their workers. All together, the group includes around 62,000 employees and around 9,000 medical professionals.

"We're thrilled to offer employees of our not-for-profit member healthcare systems a combination of better electricity rate plans and high-value services through Champion Energy Services," Beau Moon, Healthcare Coalition of Texas' vice president of business development, said in a statement. "As we prepare for increased prices in the Texas deregulated market, Champion Energy's superior customer care will provide the most flexible options for residential electricity services."

Champion has made a point of looking to underserved markets in recent months, including a new program that offers special electricity prices for smaller businesses.
